Job Summary and Qualifications

The Anesthesia Technician provides assistive care to anesthesia providers as required during surgical procedures. Anesthesia Technician duties are assigned by the OR Charge Nurse. Provides technical and clinical support to licensed Anesthesiologists and Nurse Anesthetists in various clinical settings including the Operating Rooms, Pre-operative areas, Post Anesthesia Care units, and Procedural areas (Endoscopy, Interventional and/or Diagnostic radiology), and on the hospital units in the event of emergency. The Anesthesia Technician will assist with duties such as transportation, positioning, insertion of intravenous and other invasive lines, and airway management, within the anesthesia technician scope of practice and under the direct supervision of a licensed anesthesia provider and/or registered nurse. The Anesthesia Technician will provide support for routine and/or emergency surgical cases by assisting in the preparation and maintenance of patient equipment and anesthesia delivery systems before, during and after anesthesia. The Anesthesia Technician will assist by taking call as assigned. The Anesthesia Technician will contribute to the efficient workflow of the surgical services department by ordering supplies, stocking, completing necessary checklists, and assist RN's and CST/FA's in turnover of rooms between cases. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or equivalent required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Basic computer and hospital informatics skills required.

CPR required Complies with hospital employee health, infection control and safety management programs

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 2 years as an Anesthesia Tech preferred.

Previous hospital or healthcare experience preferred.

1 year OR experience and/or Anesthesia Support role

License/Certification:

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.

Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
