The Flight Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing software that controls and manages spacecraft systems and operations. This role involves collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure that flight software meets performance, reliability, and mission-specific requirements.  Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop flight software for spacecraft and satellite systems across all levels of the tech stack including:
    • Low level bootloader, file system, and kernel programming,
    • Embedded software programming and driver development,
    • Implementation of algorithms and complex logic to manage spacecraft operations.
  • Help architect and test flight software that is used on-board Turion’s fleet of satellites.
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate flight software functionality. Perform integration and system-level testing to ensure software meets specifications.
  • Identify and resolve software defects and performance issues. Optimize software to ensure efficient operation and minimal resource usage.
  • Work with hardware engineers and systems engineers to integrate flight software with spacecraft hardware and systems. Ensure communication and functionality between software and hardware components.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for flight software, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals. Ensure documentation is accurate and complies with company standards.
  • Provide support for flight software during mission operations. Troubleshoot and resolve software issues that arise during testing and in-flight operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, hardware engineers, and mission planners, to address and resolve software-related issues.
