Senior Embedded Software Developer

Turion Space is a rapidly growing space startup with a satellite in space and plans for at least six more in the next two years. We are seeking an experienced Senior Embedded Software Developer to join our team.
Estimated Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per year.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Embedded Software Developer, you will play a crucial role in the architecture, development, and testing of the flight software that commands and monitors our spacecraft fleet. Your responsibilities will include:
- Establishing the software architecture and executing the design, development, and maintenance of reliable and fault-tolerant software.
- Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary engineering team to ensure seamless communication and effective problem-solving.
- Implementing software to meet requirements while managing interfaces with multiple spacecraft subsystems and ground systems hardware.
- Developing command and control software for spacecraft flight and payload electronics.
- Participating in test campaigns ranging from unit-level to automated testing at the subsystem and system-level.
- Developing documentation for operation and interface with software products.
Requirements:
To be successful as a Senior Embedded Software Developer, you should have:
- An engineering degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of demonstrated applicable experience in high-reliability software development.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing concurrent code with asynchronous Rust.
- Experience working with C or C++ in embedded environments.
- Experience programming on embedded ARM cores supporting SoC architectures and working in a Linux or bare-metal environment.
- A strong understanding of processor architecture and the ability to write code to optimize for speed and size.
- Experience with software development processes including source control, bug tracking, and design documentation.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced development environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
We also welcome candidates with advanced degrees in software engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent, and 8+ years of experience. Experience working within an agile framework, knowledge of Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, and PCIe interfaces, and background in dynamics and control systems are also highly valued.
