*Occupational Therapist

Qualifications
*Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution. Licensure by the Georgia and Alabama Board of Examiners of Occupational Therapy. Comprehensive knowledge of occupational therapy evaluation and treatment procedures. BLS Certified.

Area of Responsibilities
*Evaluates patients and develops appropriate treatment plans to include time defined therapy goals, in accordance with physician established plan of care.
*Implements occupational therapy treatment programs in accordance with established standards.
*Performs audits on 100% of rehab patient charts and submits QA requests to contract therapists.
*Serves as the Activities Coordinator for the swing bed program. Compiles individual patient activity calendars and provides group and individual activities on a daily basis.
*Serves as the therapy liaison between the contract provider, nursing, physicians, and administration.
*Attend weekly Case Conference Swing Bed meetings and provide a comprehensive report on all patients in the program.
*Attends daily rounding meetings to discuss patients and determine appropriateness of therapy evaluations.
*Completes discharge summaries in a timely manner in accordance with company policy.
*Consults with other departments to improve quality and efficiency of patient care.
*Delegates treatment implementation appropriately, based on the type of treatment prescribed and level of training of support personnel. Instructs nursing and other staff in follow-through activities as indicated.
*Develops home programs and discharge plans (with input from patients and families).
*Maintains confidentiality.
*Maintains patient records to include all required documentation within assigned time frame.
*Markets the swing bed programs at TMCEA and Higgins by calling on referral sources in both areas on a regular basis.
*Performs clerical duties as assigned.
*Practices good communication skills with patient and family members. Recognizes potential problems or requests of patients and or family and responds appropriately.

Compliance Statement
Employee performs within the prescribed limits of Tanner Health System's Ethics and Compliance program. Is responsible to detect, observe, and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, the Compliance Officer, or the Hotline.

*Has limited supervision. May serve as supervisor to occupational therapy assistants and or therapy aides.

Physical Effort
Moderate physical effort - Lifts, carries, or handles lightweight (1 to 25 lbs.) materials or equipment for about half of the day. Very occasional physical effort with medium weight objects (25- 60 lbs.). Office or laboratory work requires close visual effort and concentration more than half of day. Works in reaching or strained positions for less than half of day.

Working Conditions
Minor - Occasionally involved in exposure to dirt, odors, noise, or some work is performed with exposure to temperature/weather extremes/occupational risk and probability of coming into contact with blood borne pathogens, other potentially infectious diseases, or biomedical/bio-hazardous materials.
