Job Summary
Responsible for the administration and direct application of speech/language pathology treatment modalities as prescribed by a referring physician. Evaluates, plans, directs and treats all patients referred for speech/language pathology treatments to restore function and prevent disability following disease or injury; or facilitate age appropriate skills for children with neurodevelopmental delays and/or disorders. Assists patients to obtain maximum performance and function in society while learning to live a routine "normal" life within the constraints of their disability. Essential Functions
Conducts adult evaluations utilizing appropriate testing material for diagnosis of CVA, TBI, voice disorders (including laryngectomy). Completes POL, provides family education/counseling, and recommends referrals as appropriate. Conducts pediatric evaluations including formal tests for articulation and language. Completes POL, provides family education and recommends referrals as appropriate. Performs dysphasia evaluations utilizing clinical evaluation and modified barium swallow studies. Completes POL, provides family education and recommends referrals as appropriate. Teaches patients in identified areas of need and evaluated the learning. Accurately charts progress notes in the medical records and documents discharges appropriately. Prescribes therapy to RNs, dietary, and MDs. Acts in facilitating communication on the unit among staff, MDs and other departments. Acts as a resource person to other healthcare providers. Provides community education classes as assigned. Assists with marketing of services as required. Complies with all SVH policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
Must be a graduate of an accredited school and hold a MS in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Must maintain education hours based on the requirements outlined by applicable regulatory agencies (e.g. DNV, etc.)

Experience/Training
Previous experience working in an acute hospital, nursing home, clinic or school.

License/Certifications
Must be currently licensed or eligible for licensure, prior to hire date, in the state of Washington as a Speech Language Pathologist. Must obtain active and unrestricted Speech Pathologist license within 6 months of hire. If completing a Clinical Fellowship Year, must hold an Interim Speech Language Pathologist License until Speech Language Pathologist license can be obtained.

Other Skills
Must have appropriate skills and demonstrated ability to provide speech pathology care and acute-hospital-based care. Experience and skills in swallowing evaluations is preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of equipment including computer programs and augmentative communication.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.Skagit Regional Health offers a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, vision, 457b/401a (retirement), long term disability, and paid time off to all employees holding an FTE of 20 or more hours per week.
