Description:
Assists the School District in providing the fullest possible educational opportunity for each student by minimizing absence due to illness. Create a Building/District climate of health and wellness. Maintain up-to-date cumulative health records on all students. Provides care for students and/or staff members who sustain injury or emergency illness.
Qualifications:
- Must possess an active IL Registered Nurse License
- Must be CPR/AED Certified
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Illinois State School Nurse Service Personel License
- Conducts and/or supervises school health screening
- Supervises identification and referral of students in need of medical and dental care
- Consults with parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics and other agencies on school health matters
- Observes students to detect health needs
- Visits student homes when necessary
- Participates with Administration and School Staff in developing and implementing the total school health program
- Assists in the development and maintenance of school health policy
- Prepares and submits health data and reports including health histories, as required
- Supervises exclusion and re-admission of students with infectious and contagious diseases
- Provides in-service and advises teachers on health matters, as needed
- Conducts health instruction in the building and other health topics as requested
- Administers any medical treatment and/or medication given to students while attending school
- Complies with federal, state and district policies and procedures pertaining to health issues
- Ensures adequate supplies are purchased and available
- Assumes other responsibilities as assigned
