The Social Worker/Case Manager shall work with a healthcare team to provide support for on-site clinic health units or events for rapid deployments to support emergency and disaster efforts.This is a temporary position and length of assignment may vary based on operational needs and client requirements.

**This position is notional and contingent upon contract award****

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Individually engage travelers and orient them to the active monitoring program.

  • Provide basic disease prevention education; address concerns, answer questions, and encourage participation in active monitoring; and review and verify contact information.

  • Collects and records psychosocial and physical data and assists with care and treatment of behavioral or psychological problems.

  • Gather, validate, and provide quality assurance for information collected in furtherance of CDC's response and entry screening activities.

  • Assist in transmitting records to local health departments for care and follow-up.

  • Counsel's travelers with personal, behavioral or psychological problems.

  • Provide crisis intervention.

  • Records and maintains patient information in accordance with standard protocols and the Privacy Act.

  • Ensures safe operating conditions within area of responsibility.

  • Protects patients' privacy through confidentiality, infection control procedures and assuring proper storage and maintenance procedures for all equipment and supplies.

  • Demonstrates proven success in stressful environments.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a current, active License in Clinical Counseling field with the ability to be favorably credentialed.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Education, Health Counseling, Social Work or related field.

  • 5 years of experience as a licensed counselor.

  • Must be able to work while wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as an N95 Respirator.

  • Must be proficient and have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, organized and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to perform duties in a stressful and high paced environment without physical limitations.

  • Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities.

  • Expected to respond/report on-site within 45 minutes of initial request that require after hours/emergency support.

  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Health Education, Health Counseling, Social Work, or related field.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Due to varied current global health climate, additional personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines may apply. Employees may potentially be working in an environment supporting the medical response to an emergency health crisis.

  • The position will require walking, standing, or sitting for periods of up to or beyond 10 to 12 hours each day

  • Under urgent or emergency situations, the incumbent may need to run, sprint, or run up or down stairs

  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
