Warehouse Manager Job Description

Grade Level 14 (Exempt)

Description

Warehouse Manager is responsible for planning and directing all functional activities of the Kutztown warehouse operation. Inbound and out bound freight, including a growing e-commerce fulfilment operation that averages five thousand e-commerce orders per month This is a high velocity, multi-mode distribution and receiving facility. The current activity is an average of 550 outbound shipments per month, and an average of 450 outbound trucks per month. Which currently averages 6 million pounds of outbound service per month. Inbound sea container receiving averages approximately 100 40-foot units per month. The warehouse manager has a staff of 4 supervisors that manage inbound, outbound, export and North America shipments and requisite staff assigned to each functional department. Manager assures that policies and procedures follow ISO 9001. Manager is responsible for ensuring that all safety rules and procedures are followed.

Director of Manufacturing and Logistics

The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for performing a variety of duties that will include but not limited to the following:

• Manages and develops warehouse supervisors on their respective shifts to ensure proper receipt, inventories, record keeping, storage, pallet making, Cut to Size orders and shipment of product to end customers.

• Forecasts for warehouse capacities

• Ensures all work instructions are updated and communicated effectively.

• Ensures all training requirements are met.

• Oversees the documentation and reporting discrepancies and product damage.

• Oversees the rearrangement and inventory levels of stored materials.

• Oversees the audit of stored materials and reports deterioration and damage.

• Delegates and assigns tasks for all warehouse personnel.

• Evaluates performance of warehouse personnel

• Provides coaching for improvement, feedback, and development of warehouse personnel.

• Will lead warehouse management systems implementation and upgrades.

• Adheres to the compliance of all legal and safety procedures.

• Directs the warehouse team to ensure that policies and procedures are following ISO 9001

• Responsible for warehouse performance metrics

• Implements continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and improve performance on safety, quality and cost.

• Implements process to monitor operation to proactively identify problem/opportunities - develop countermeasures and drive actions.

• Develops higher level of teamwork, communication and collaboration within the warehouse team and other parts of the business.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a manager/supervisor in a warehouse/manufacturing environment
  • Should demonstrate fair but firm management skills.
  • Proven leadership skills that command respect and the desire to do well from your staff members.
  • Ability to work in a challenging environment.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Experience and demonstrated results of continuous improvement in a dynamic warehouse environment.
  • Experience with ERP & SAP or similar systems necessary.
