Description

The radiologic technologist performs x-rays for diagnostic purposes. They will follow established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety.

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Prepare patients for radiologic procedures.
  2. Escort patients to dressing and x-ray rooms.
  3. Provide verbal and/or written instructions and assist patients in positioning body parts to be radiographed.
  4. Explain procedures and observe patients to ensure patient care, safety and comfort during scan.
  5. Operate radiologic equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes.
  6. Position radiologic equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance according to specification of examination.
  7. Take x-rays following established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety.
  8. Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to ensure the safety of patients and team members.
  9. Ensure radiologic equipment remains in working order. Report equipment malfunctions to appropriate team member(s).
  10. Perform related administrative duties including completing necessary forms and maintaining procedure logs.
  11. Retrieve radiologic orders from and input related data into the electronic medical record.
  12. Maintain adequate radiologic supplies.
  13. Serve as a back-up for clinical team members as needed.
  14. Perform all other duties as assigned.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS: Maintain all Quality Control and Quality Improvements. Maintain good standing with all accrediting boards.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION:
  1. State Registered with RTL (Radiologic Technologist License)
  2. ARRT (R)
  3. High school diploma or equivalent required
  4. Associate degree or higher preferred
  5. BLS Certification
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Radiologic technologist experience preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen.
  2. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  3. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  4. Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds, with assistance if needed.
  5. May need to lift or turn patients who are disabled, with assistance if needed.
  6. Frequent use of computer, keyboard, copy and fax machine and phone.
