Job Overview: The Construction Specialist performs a variety of functions including layout of construction projects, rough-in work, carpentry, drywalling, hanging doors, installing hardware, masonry, concrete forming/floor work/finishing, snow removal & salting applications, daily inspection & maintenance of equipment, and general facilities repair and construction. Performance will contribute to an injury-free work environment by complying with all company rules and policies. Job Description: Perform skilled construction work across a variety of tasks. To contribute to the overall success of the department, the Construction Specialist will need to perform the following duties as well as others that may be deemed necessary to maintain the operation and satisfy project schedules. The position requires the employee to be able to perform with minimal supervision. Layout projects utilizing survey equipment and/or plans. Perform construction rough-in work. Hang and finish drywall. Hang metal and wood overhead and man doors. Layout and install acoustical ceilings. Install hardware. Perform concrete work including; Floor and masonry cutting; forming, placement and finishing. Construct scaffolding. Snow removal and salt application Paint Furniture installation Site work, demolition and general construction Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or GED Experience: Minimum of 4 years in the construction field Required Skills: Valid driver license Certification to operate platform and boom lifts. Will provide training if necessary. Must be able to operate the following: backhoe, trencher, forklift, material handler (i.e. Lull, SkyTrak), power buggy, aerial platform & boom lifts, front end loader, skid steer loader, survey equipment and miscellaneous small power hand tools. Must be able to contribute to a team effort. Must demonstrate good oral, written and reading skills for effective communication. Must be able to read and interpret construction layouts and blueprints. Must have math skills capable of determining material take offs for purchasing. Must be able to travel to out-of-state facilities as needed. Must complete duties on schedule while maintaining an appropriate level of cleanliness. Preferred Skills: Should have the ability to effectively problem-solve. Physical Requirements: Must be able to bend, stoop, reach and climb ladders up to 20 feet in height. Must be able to work from ladders, lifts, or elevated platforms – indoors and outdoors. Must be able to lift, from a standing position, carry and/or transport up to 50 pounds. Must have physical endurance and mobility for prolonged standing, walking, bending and stooping. Must be able to work a 40-hour shift, with overtime as needed.
