About the Team

Workday’s Public Cloud Infrastructure Team is a diverse group of software developers, cloud engineers & site reliability engineers (SREs) who work together to ensure our cloud infrastructure is secure, scalable, and highly available. We focus on enabling Workday's growth in the public cloud by crafting, deploying and maintaining fully automated, resilient and scalable infrastructure-as-a-service. About the Role

As a pivotal member of the Public Cloud Engineering team at Workday, you will lead efforts in redefining our infrastructure to the public cloud (AWS or GCP). Your role will center on designing, implementing and operating a Unified Workflow & Cloud Environment Build System, expediting our migration journey and ensuring best practices are applied. Using innovative tools and the latest technologies, you'll empower the organization, contributing significantly to Workday's cloud adoption and efficiency. This role calls for expertise in cloud platforms, strong software engineering skills, and a collaborative approach to drive impactful innovation within the organization.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Cloud Workflow and Build Systems:

    • Design, develop, maintain, and support high-quality in-house software build systems for enterprise-class software.

    • Automate build, infrastructure, and software configuration management tasks.

  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD):

    • Design and maintain automated pipelines to ensure continuous delivery of value to clients.

  • Build/Release Management:

    • Create and maintain automated build/release scripts and plans.

  • Contribution to Public Cloud infrastructure Best Practices:

    • Contribute to ongoing improvements in the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for Public Cloud best practices.

  • Collaboration and Cross-functional Work:

    • Work collaboratively with developer and system architecture teams.

    • Assist in the design and implementation of solutions to enhance stability, security, and scalability.

About You

Basic Qualification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field or 5+ years of shown expertise in software development with Python or GoLang

  • 4 + years experience in cloud engineering, with a deep understanding of AWS or GCP services and offerings.

  • 4+ years if proven hands-on experience in CI/CD technologies - eg: Argo CD and Argo Workflow.

  • 4 + years of experience in cloud migration and transformation projects, including infrastructure as code (IaC) and automation.

Other Qualifications:
  • Understanding of SRE principals, including monitoring, alerting, error budgets, fault analysis, and other common reliability engineering concepts
  • Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect) are a plus.
  • Proven experience in Kubernetes and container orchestration is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, evolving environment

Workday Pay Transparency Statement

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below.  Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things.
