UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for a Pulmonary Staff Physician to join our School of Medicine team at UNM. This opportunity is a 0.8FTE opening located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Summary

The University of New Mexico, Health Sciences Center, Department of Internal Medicine, seeks a Staff Physician to join the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. As the only academic medical center for the state, opportunity exists for innovation in teaching and providing care for both rural and urban populations from diverse cultures. This position will be primarily located in the University of New Mexico Hospital outpatient clinic and inpatient pulmonary consult service.

Minimum Job Requirements of a Pulmonary Staff Physician:

MD, DO, DMD and DDS with 3 to 5 years of directly related experience which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty. State of New Mexico and Federal DEA Certification; Medical Specialty License or Certification; Board Certified or Board Eligible in specified area of medical specialty. Completed degree from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.

Duties and Responsibilities of a Pulmonary Staff Physician:


  1. Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for a specified patient population.
  2. Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
  3. Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.
  4. Trains and supervises medical students and residents engaged in specialty activities and procedures, as appropriate.
  5. May manage the daily operations of a specific medical program, patient care unit, or research function.
  6. Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
  7. Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
  8. As appropriate to the position, participates in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs.
  9. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
