Job Description Summary

Unique Opportunity for a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC), Assistive Technology (AT), and Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) services to individuals with a variety of disabilities. Candidates must be willing and able to drive to different locations throughout Central Maryland and should be flexible with their schedule, caseload, and ability to work easily with others.

Unified Community Connections is a leading provider of services and programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Maryland. We provide comprehensive, wrap-around services tailored to the unique needs of each person and family we support. Our programs are designed to assist individuals with disabilities in achieving the quality of life they seek. We promote self-determination, independence, productivity, integration and inclusion in all facets of life.

Our agency is often the only place for families to turn for help with severely medically challenged loved ones.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Conduct needs-based AAC and SLP assessments and develop treatment plans.
  • Provide AT Assessments in the areas of physical access, cognitive, and low vision.
  • Provide AT, AAC, and SLP therapy and training services for individuals with disabilities.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and problem solving relative to AAC tools.
  • Prepare written reports as required.
  • Oversee application/approval of funding for AAC devices.
  • Complete Case Management, including referrals, scheduling, billing, team meetings, and service provision.
  • Maintain accurate assessment records and therapy/training logs with relevant data to document client progress.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development related to the field.
  • Day travel to the following counties: Montgomery, Frederick, Washington, Carroll, Garrett, and Baltimore with travel reimbursement provided.
Education

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university.

Experience

1-year experience directly related to AAC service provision.

Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of speech pathology theories, practices, and techniques.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with AAC service provision preferred.
Licensure, Certification

Certification of Clinical Competency in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association and a State of Maryland License in Speech-Language Pathology.

The following are required to be considered for employment:

  • Motor Vehicle Record with 2 or less points
  • Ability to lift 25 Lbs. unassisted
Physical Requirements

Audio-visual acuity to be able to read small print and perform perceptual diagnostic assessments. Ability to reach, stoop, crouch, push, walk, stand, and lift 25 pounds.
