STG's Education and Community Engagement Department served close to 40,000 Pacific Northwest residents in the 2022-23 Season. In the 2022-23 season, our vision was expressed through 541 individual engagements including 461 free events.

We are creating programs and spaces where we can ensure people are feeling welcomed and represented. Our targeted goal is focusing on historically excluded communities. We do this to ensure we are thinking about communities that traditionally would not attend or participate in our events. This is important to us as we are a world where the global majority population has a platform for creative expression.

This internship will give you an opportunity to become familiar with a large nonprofit arts organization's workings. At the end of the internship, you must present a capstone project about learnings throughout internship. During the internship you will acquire organizational skills, learn non-profit working models, get hands on experience on programs and projects and develop skills in building strong working relationships with staff and community members. This internship will help strengthen your public speaking and leadership skills. Pay rate for this internship is $22/hour and will work around 15-20 hours/week and is expected to run October 2024 through August 2025.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

  • Learn aspects of behind-the-scenes work in ECE
  • Work with the team on administrative needs for the project
  • Assist with classes and events
  • Assist with registration and recruitment of programs
  • Support team on projects that are department specific
QUALIFICATIONS
  • College or graduate student, 18 years or older
  • Interest performing arts
  • Applicant must be mature and energetic
  • Dedication to racial equity and social justice work in the arts
  • Works well under pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experienced in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Receptive to ongoing feedback and provide meaningful feedback to ECE program directors and managers with the goal of improving our programs
  • First Aid/CPR Trained (if not certified - STG will arrange training)
