Our preferred candidate must bring at least 2 years of prior retina/ophthalmic technician experience. Unfortunately, without this experience you cannot be considered for the position.

Ophthalmic Technicians are responsible for assisting the Ophthalmologist and/or Optometrist by documenting patient information into the Electronic Health Record as well as taking ocular measurements and administering treatment as allowed and ordered by the physician.

Responsibilities

  • Initial work up of patients such as gathering chief complaint, ocular and systemic history, past family and social history and complete review of systems
  • Measuring visual acuities, intraocular pressures, refraction, pachymetry and more
  • Performing tests aimed at diagnosing ocular ailments, disorders, and other problems
  • Assists with in-office procedures and injections ensuring proper informed consent is obtained
  • Assists with patient education.
  • Scribe in electronic medical records format to document the patient visit and examination
  • Assist with stocking supplies, ensuring cleanliness of patient exams room or office and other administrative or clinical duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • At least two years of experience in a work up position within a retina or ophthalmology practice is required for consideration. COA/COT is highly preferred
  • Must be willing to travel to other offices occasionally to meet the demands of business
  • Knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology highly preferred.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be a well-organized, team-player with great attention to detail
  • Demonstrate superior computer skills
  • Maintains positive attitude consisting of cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalism.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for eight hours
  • Must be able to type or write legibly in a dimly-lit setting

The compensation range for this position is from $20.00 to $27.00 dependent upon experience relative to the position and any technician certification that you may hold.
