Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team at Lexington Premier Nursing & Rehab, a leading skilled nursing facility. The SLP will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in our diverse resident population. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geriatric care, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of life for our residents.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a clinical healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
• Assessment and Evaluation:
o Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders.
o Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and resident needs.
• Treatment and Intervention:
o Implement and monitor therapeutic interventions to improve communication skills and swallowing functions.
o Adapt treatment techniques to meet the specific needs and goals of each resident.
• Documentation and Reporting:
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of resident progress, treatment plans, and clinical notes.
o Prepare detailed reports and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team, residents, and their families.
• Collaboration and Teamwork:
o Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, physicians, occupational therapists, and physical therapists, to provide holistic care.
o Participate in care planning meetings and contribute to the development of care strategies for residents.
• Education and Training:
o Provide education and training to residents, families, and staff on speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
o Stay current with best practices and advancements in the field of speech-language pathology.
• Compliance and Standards:
o Adhere to facility policies, state, and federal regulations, and professional standards of practice.
o Ensure all practices comply with healthcare and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in KY.
• Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.
• Experience in a skilled nursing or geriatric setting is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care and a commitment to improving the quality of life for residents.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and transfer patients with assistance.
• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
• Adequate visual and auditory acuity to assess and interact with residents.
