Application Engineer - Commercial Gears

Department: Motors

Location: Mchenry, IL

WEG Electric Corp. has an excellent opportunity for an Application Engineer - Commercial Gears. You will learn customer applications and technical requirements to leverage WEG`s value proposition, promoting sustainable growth and differentiated customer experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the technical liaison for commercial gear and DC motor customers, by translating customer requirements, drawings, specifications and RFQs into product solutions that meet customer and business needs.

  • Coordinate expertise and recommend solutions from cross-functional teams to application and performance problems related to DC motors, gearmotors and gearbox applications in the commercial gearing field.

  • Interact with sales team and customers on complex applications to translate customer requirements into product specification and provide valued technical proposals.

  • Provide input to leadership team on commercial gear applications, customer requirements to design and/or improve products considering manufacturability, quality, reliability, and cost.

  • Solve problems with a thorough understanding of tradeoffs in problem solving to drive optimized designs.

  • Act as the subject matter expert in product solutions at customer sites and serve as the main point of contact between our customer-s engineering team and the WEG DC product and gear engineering team.

  • Support routine product introductions, deviations, sample development and new product introductions.

  • Provide leadership and timely resolution to outstanding customer issues.

  • Lead or support internal qualification efforts on customer impacting design changes and transition projects. Conduct competitive analysis on other manufacturers- motors.

  • Support business with other tasks as needed.

Education

  • Bachelor-s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent related experience.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects.

  • Skilled in organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating working relationships with all levels of personnel within and outside the organization.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Self-motivated, strong customer-focused behavior

  • Familiarity with the gear, gearmotor, DC motor and/or similar industry.

  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel / Word / Power Point)

  • Willingness to travel as needed (20% ~ 30%) in the US.
