Position Overview: A seasoned professional with a passion for sustainability and a proven track record in sales is needed. As the Sales and Business Development Manager at SPORC, you will play a pivotal role in executing our strategic growth plan. Your expertise in sales and purchasing will be essential in expanding our network of suppliers and customers, ensuring a consistent supply of recyclable metal commodities.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Oversee and lead the entire purchasing and sales process, ensuring seamless transactions and high customer satisfaction.
  • Drive sales efforts to identify and onboard new customers interested in purchasing recyclable metals.
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of key accounts, providing exceptional service and fostering long term relationships.
  • Identify, negotiate, and establish relationships with suppliers and customers for recyclable metals.
  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans to secure a continuous supply of high-quality scrap metals.
  • Stay ahead of market trends to identify new sourcing opportunities and optimize purchasing strategies.
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop campaigns that promote our sustainable solutions and attract new business.
  • Establish and track sales performance metrics to measure success and identify areas for improvement.
  • Regularly report on sales and procurement activities, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Develop a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with the company's goals and objectives identifying target markets, customer segments, and potential opportunities for expansion.
  • Conduct market research, lead generation, and cold calling to identify and connect with potential customers.
Competencies you must have
  • Sales and Procurement. Proficient in identifying and securing high-quality recyclable metal commodities through strategic sourcing and negotiation. Skilled in managing supplier and customer relationships, driving sales growth, and ensuring seamless procurement processes.
  • Prospecting and Lead Generation: Ability to identify and pursue potential clients to prospect, lead generation, and qualifying leads to focus efforts on the most promising opportunities.
  • Industry knowledge. A strong understanding of the recycling industry, or related industry, to effectively communicate the value and benefits of the company's offerings to potential clients.
  • Negotiation. Understanding customer requirements, identifying win-win solutions, and negotiating terms and contracts that benefit both parties.
Work Environment
  • Occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
  • Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, and
  • Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress.
Requirements

Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, business development, or procurement, preferably in the recycling or metals industry. A bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, environmental science, or a related field is a plus.
  • Proven experience in sales and business development roles, preferably in the recycling industry or a related field, and has a track record of achieving sales targets, acquiring new clients, and driving revenue growth.
  • Proven experience in negotiating contracts, pricing terms, and closing deals with clients.
  • A strong understanding of the recycling industry, including its processes, materials, market trends, and environmental regulations.
  • Proficiency in office productivity tools, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and calendar management systems.
