Part Time Substance Counselor- Grant Funded

20 hours per week 34.00 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based counseling and outreach to students with attention to students who identify with substance use or are in recovery.
  • Develop and deliver outreach programs and education workshops to students to enhance awareness and knowledge of substance use and resources.
  • Conduct assessments to determine students’ substance use history, mental health status and treatment needs.
  • Respond to urgent situations related to substance use and coordinate referrals as needed.
  • Establish partnership with local treatment centers and community organizations.
  • Establish on campus support groups.
  • Participate in case consultations with other personal counselors.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of counseling sessions and student progress.
  • Collaborate with community mental health resources to promote student well-being and refer students who require a higher level of care as needed.
  • Provide Academic Counseling to college students as needed.
  • Perform additional job-related tasks as directed by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work or related field.
  • Licensed as a New Jersey Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC)
  • Minimum of two years of counseling experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years experience working in a community college or university setting.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor.


The Part-Time Substance Awareness Counselor is funded in partnership with the NJ Office of the Secretary of Higher Education and with funds provided by the Mental Health in Higher Education: Community Provider Partnerships and Professional Development Grant.
