Uses Firewalls, Intrusion Detection and Systems/Intrusion Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), proxy gateways, and network security devices to provide defense-in-depth protection from cyber security threats. Installs, configures, and supports local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), internet systems, and segment of a network system. Provides business solutions by ensuring network systems are secure.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
  • Performs overall network security design and provides secure connectivity solutions to allow employees, partners, and customers to be more competitive, productive, and profitable in a global business environment.
  • Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope.
  • Works on complex assignments and often multiple phases of a project.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives.
  • Designs new enterprise network solutions, enables new customer connectivity, and secures the environment through tactical change management.
  • Designs complex firewall and network environments for security of resources and enablement of revenue producing services.
  • Develops applications using Transmission Control Protocol and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
  • Monitors networks to ensure network availability to all system users.
  • Performs maintenance to support network availability.
  • Designs, configures, and tests computer hardware, networking software, or operating system software.
  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and resolves hardware, software, or other network and system problems.
  • Replaces defective components when necessary.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Network Engineer (or closely related occupation) architecting and supporting multi-vendor network environments within the financial services industry.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Network Engineer (or closely related occupation) architecting and supporting multi-vendor network environments within the financial services industry.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) architecting and supporting secure application hosting environments, using Checkpoint and Juniper firewall high availability designs, VRRP, NSRP, chassis-based clustering capabilities, virtualization concepts (LSYS and VSYS), and advanced threat protections via IDS/IPS technologies.
  • DE performing software lifecycle management for enterprise network infrastructure -- lab testing and certification, defining multi-month change and release management schedule -- in alignment with enterprise IT Service Management (ITSM) practices.
  • DE architecting and engineering a multi-tiered datacenter network environment, using Spanningtree, Etherchannel, and dynamic routing protocols (OSPF and BGP); and performing capacity management and planning, using metrics derived from SNMP and Netflow.
  • DE engineering Role Based Access Controls (RBAC) to ensure adherence to security control policies, using Cisco ISE groups and Active Directory integration with ISE based radius.
