Job Description

Primary Function of Position

The primary objective for this role is to inspect the tissue models produced in the manufacturing process to ensure that they meet quality, efficiency, and productivity standards. As a quality technician, the technician is responsible for identifying any potential defects in variable biological material and determining whether it is suitable for use by understanding the end-user's interaction with the products. The technician will also work closely with production & engineering & assist in meeting the production goals.

Essential Job Duties
  • Perform final inspection of highly variable assembled tissue models to ensure quality (meeting requirements).
  • Assist production team on any questions pertaining to quality & escalate any potential issues to Quality Engineering.
  • Ability to perform receiving, incoming quality (IQC) functions as needed.
  • Ability to assemble variety of tissue products according to manufacturing instructions (MPI) and prints to meet production goals.
  • Proficient in inspecting complex steps like suturing, surgical knot tying, bonding on tissue models.
  • Assist production on minor repairs on tissue models post inspection to meet the spec.
  • Be proficient at inspecting raw tissue/material for usability and escalate to engineering/production as needed.
  • Assist in training technicians by understanding the MPI, prints and requirements.
  • Assist in running the Material Review Board (MRB) process onsite with Quality Engineering.
  • Initiate/assist in drafting deviations, inspection plans, reports and recording measurement as needed.
  • Lead as SME & assist production technician as needed.
  • Assist engineering on failure investigations & report findings/results.
  • Ensure production to follow all corporate, regulatory, safety & production policies and procedures.
  • Facilitates Quality Circle/Kaizen discussions.
  • Understands 5S concepts and offers suggestions to the production team if needed.
  • Willing to take on additional responsibilities as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience
  • Minimum 5 or more years' related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum experience: Certification to 8 assemblies or processes (with 1 or more advanced certifications - G2/G3/G4) or comparable experience equivalent to a minimum of 3 years.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English.
  • Ability to use clocks, timers, tools, calculators, and rulers.
  • Ability to use computers as part of daily work.
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to perform fine motor tasks such as sewing and cutting, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a controlled environment (i.e., clean room), this includes wearing scrubs, and slip-resistant shoes as well as meeting other room standards.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions.
  • Must have ability to complete training courses (online and in-person).
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrates high level of accuracy in work performed.
  • Proficient in use of personal computers as part of daily work, including knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, SAP and ACCS (Agile) system to retrieve and submit on-line documentation.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Maintains a neat and orderly workstation.
  • Maintains an excellent attendance record.
Required Education and Training
  • Minimum High school diploma or equivalent.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift and carry upto 50 lbs.
  • Perform quality checks on their own and team member's work.
