Job Summary

**FIRST REVIEW OF APPLICATIONS JUNE 25TH
The Social Worker - Child & Family Parent Support Outreach position works to enhance the well-being of children and families of Rice County by providing Parent Support Outreach Program assessment and case management services. This includes assessing the risk level for maltreatment, supports families to meet the needs of their children and to overcome barriers preventing safety, stability and well-being for the children. Work is preformed while maintaining confidentiality and pursuant to all applicable state statutes.
Examples of Duties

  • Screens all child protection reports received by the agency with a team of assessment/investigative workers and supervisor. Determines if reports meet statutory guidelines for assessment/investigation.
  • Completes a Parent Support Outreach Program assessment in accordance with MN statutes.
  • Develops, identifies, and makes appropriate referrals to treatment resources such as chemical dependency assessments, parenting assessments, domestic abuse treatment, and psychiatric services as needed to ensure the safety of children/families.
  • Completes and maintains required documentation for casework.
  • Performs crisis intervention as needed.
  • Attends training sessions and staff/community meetings.
  • Performs rotating intake duties in response to community concerns, reports and requests for services.
  • Provides on-boarding and training of new staff as directed by supervisor and/or lead worker providing orientation and support of interns.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
The job requires a Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related human services field, and two years of supervised experience as a child welfare worker and their families or equivalent. Valid driver's license required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Social Work, and two years of supervised experience as a child welfare worker or a related social services field within the last five years, or equivalent is preferred. Bilingual in Spanish or Somali language is preferred.
Supplemental Information

HIRING RANGE / UNION: $32.72 - $34.28 per hour / SS Unit - Grade 12

HOURS: Normal working hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday. Full-time hours equal 40 hours per week.
