The Role:

ElevateBio is seeking a Metrology Technician. The successful candidate will be detailed oriented, organized, and have a strong understanding of calibration execution and experience with various instrumentation. Key responsibilities will be establishing initial calibration requirements, performing calibrations, and reviewing calibration documentation using the paperless system.

Here's What You Will Do:

  • Perform calibration activities and documentation.
  • Work in conjunction with 3rd party calibration contractors to calibrate equipment and obtain instrument data.
  • Maintain in-house calibration standards and equipment.
  • Represent the department in cross functional teams, as necessary.
  • Provide shift updates, as needed.
  • Spend approximately 75% time with hands-on, field type duties.
  • Spend approximately 25% time with Administrative duties.
  • Perform continuous improvement and training.
  • Solves problems by applying a combination of best practices and creative solutions.
Requirements:
  • A 2-year technical, AA, or AS degree in metrology, instrumentation, or electronics with 1 year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. Education and experience will determine the job grade (e.g., Technician I, II, etc.).
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow SOPs, P&IDs, and work instructions.
  • Strong multitasking skills and the ability to maintain professionalism at all times.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Experience in developing and using measurement uncertainty is highly desired.
  • Experience in calibrating process, laboratory, packaging, and utility systems instrumentation/equipment in a GMP environment is highly desired.
  • Experience with Blue Mountain RAM is preferred.
Working Environment
  • Must be capable of working in controlled clean room environments, adhering to special gowning requirements. This includes wearing protective clothing covering the head, face, hands, feet, and body, along with personal protective equipment as per safety protocols.
  • Occasionally work in cold, wet environments, as well as hot and humid conditions, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Occasionally work around chemicals such as paint, flooring materials, refrigerants, alcohol, acids, and buffers, which may necessitate the use of respiratory protection.
  • Must be able to consistently work 8-hour shifts.
  • Must be available for overtime, weekend work, and holidays with appropriate advanced notice as work demands.
Physical Demand

The overall physical exertion of this position requires the following during performance of job functions:
  • Required to balance, walk, carry, kneel, stand, and crawl for access to equipment.
  • Required to climb ladders and steep stairs for access to equipment.
  • Required to use hand / finger to feel for equipment connections or small parts.
  • Required movement of head /neck to obtain data.
  • Required to grip and grasp materials and equipment.
  • Required to use hearing for communication and verification of equipment and alarms .
  • Required to visually inspect when performing calibration and administrative activities.
  • Occasionally required repetitive/sustained stooping and bending during the performance of calibration activities.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds .
