Qualifications :

- Bachelor s degree from an accredited college in an engineering discipline.
- 8 years' of relevant experience in an Engineer position.
- Experience developing and implementing a System Safety Program IAW MIL-STD-882.
- Developing and evaluating system safety requirements.
- Familiarity with implementing a Software Safety Program IAW AOP-52 and DoD guidelines.
- Proficient knowledge of MIL-STD-882 and its associated analyses.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to make formal presentations to large groups.
- Interacts well in a team atmosphere with engineers, suppliers, program managers and customers.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring that the products developed and sold to the customer are safe for the warfighter to use.
- Perform hazard analysis in accordance with MIL-STD-882 and contractual requirements.
- Recommend safety features and controls for system design, software, training and procedures to mitigate or eliminate hazards.
- Perform and support the development of safety documentation to satisfy customer and contractual requirements.
- Work with systems and software engineering on architecture definition, use cases and generates software safety analyses in accordance with government guidelines.
- Can help mentor and train early career system engineers in the System Safety discipline.
- Support the program by developing hazard analyses, software safety assessments, hazardous material management planning and execution.
- Analyze and recommend safety criteria in system design, equipment and procedures to control or eliminate hazards.
- Prepare and deliver presentations at technical reviews and customer briefings.
- Flow down system safety requirements to suppliers and verify design implementation.
- Reviews specifications, technical documentation, and design changes for impacts to system safety.
- Support customer and test/operational range requirements
- Participates in the development of testing activities to ensure safety requirements are satisfied.
- Prepare technical documentation and presentation material to support various independent safety board meetings to gain approval on system design.
- Participates in accident investigations involving damage to products or related facilities and assists in identification of causes and corrective actions.
