The Marketing Strategy & Planning (MSP) Manager drives the development and execution of all marketing plans and strategies as it relates to the shopper marketing, vendor relationships and the Chesapeake Media Group (CMG), in additional to the coordination with their LOB’s merchant VP for print, digital and in-store promotions. The MSP Manager is also fully versed and knowledgeable in merchandising processes. This role’s primary focus is to manage the Marketing Planners in the building and execution of CMG, shopper marketing programs and promotions to drive incremental sales and trips, improve the Family Dollar brand, and create loyalty in our customers. Strategically, this role will lead the development of CMG, shopper marketing programs and promotional plans including the identification of items to promote in the various promotional vehicles. As such, the MSP Manager is critical to the ongoing innovation and improvement of marketing planning and strategy.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Lead a team of Marketing Planners (currently two) that:
-
Develop, communicate and execute well thought out, integrated shopper marketing and promotional plans that deliver ROI for their specific LOB.
-
Ensure that each vendor and merchant understands the role of Family Dollar Marketing Planning and established programs.
-
Nurture vendor relationships in regards to shopper marketing and serve as the liaison for those projects between merchandising and marketing.
-
Work with analytics partners to develop and present historical analyses of prior promotional events (i.e. last year, competitor activity, etc.) to assist the merchandising organization in identifying promotional opportunities
-
Partner with vendor and merchants to build category specific promotional strategies
-
Identify and recommend programs and products to promote in marketing vehicles based on historical results
-
Represent MSP in major Merchandising meetings, supplier reviews, shows, conventions, etc.
-
Drive awareness of major promotional campaigns in merchandising to ensure their inclusion in promotional events.
-
Manage the coordination of CMG and Shopper Marketing funding to maximize incremental vendor revenue.

Proven media sales experience a plus.
Minimum Requirements:
Education : Four-year degree in marketing or related
Experience: 5 years of applicable merchandising and/or marketing experience with a general merchandise retailer; store and/or field (visual) merchandising experience a plus
Software: High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Sharepoint); Working knowledge of Smartsheet and Workfront a plus.
