Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with setting up of research experiments (includes labeling tubes and cassettes)
  • Assists with molecular techniques such as PCR.
  • Maintains laboratory reagents and equipment (includes cleaning and autoclaving)
  • Maintains inventory.
  • Assists with imaging including scanning of slides, organizing slides, labeling slides.
  • Maintains laboratory notebook of all experiments on labarchives.
  •  Assists with preparation of laboratory reports by collecting and collating research data. Prepares drafts of laboratory reports under direction of Research Assistant and conducts library research to obtain supporting research data. Prepares charts, graphs, and related data.
  • Maintains clean laboratory area. Replaces instruments after use and ensures slides, test tubes, glassware, and other items used in analyses are cleaned. Adheres to proper safety techniques and procedures.
  • Performs miscellaneous related duties
Qualifications

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Reports to: Principal Investigator- Allison Bradbury

KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • High School student or HS graduate with two years accredited college coursework majoring in science preferred.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Percent of time spent on: 80% Lab work 20% Databases, inventory 
  • 100% Kneeling / reaching
  • 100% Finger dexterity
  • 100% Talking / hearing / seeing
