Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse - Ortho Trauma

Job Specialty: FS

Job Duration: 14 weeks

Shift: Nights

Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week

Experience: 1 year of experience required; previous post-surgical or Trauma/Ortho experience preferred.

License: Current RN License from the State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).

Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association.

Must-Have: Proficiency in medical-surgical and stepdown units.

Job Description:

- Provide nursing care in a hospital setting to patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.
- Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; note all changes in physician orders for assigned patients.
- Assist physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.
- Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe physiological manifestations, and intervene when necessary.
- Administer medication as prescribed and initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Deliver patient care competently.
- Interact with patients and families to share the care plan both during hospitalization and at discharge.
- Inform patients and families about hospital procedures.
- Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Delegate tasks to support staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Skills & Experience:

- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.
- Maintain good working relationships with other employees.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to respond effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
- Basic computer skills.

Education:

- Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing Board Approved Program.
