KFA is seeking a resourceful and ambitious Project Engineer to steer our most impactful municipal drainage and stormwater projects across Central Texas. This role is designed for a candidate with a solid history of achievements within the public sector, particularly with the City of Austin and adjacent communities.

The primary responsibilities of the Project Engineer include:
  • Lead design for pivotal projects from neighborhood flood studies to storm drainage and channel improvements, directly contributing to community safety and environmental sustainability.
  • Utilize your expertise to navigate project challenges and develop innovative solutions.
  • Mentor and direct junior engineers in complex technical work, ensuring the delivery of high-quality plans, specifications, and reports.
Requirements:
  • Texas PE License or ability to obtain a Texas PE license within 6 months of hire
  • Bachelors or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in municipal drainage projects covering all project phases
  • Excellent communication skills, essential for team collaboration and stakeholder engagement
  • Proficiency with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and either MicroStation or Civil 3D
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced modeling software such as SWMM, HEC-RAS 2D, InfoWorks ICM
  • TCEQ water quality design experience
  • Project management and Task Lead experience
  • GIS experience
  • Experience with FEMA modeling and mapping
  • Experience with channel design and stream bank stabilization
  • Certified Floodplain Manager

Work Environment
