Chore-Time Buyer/Planner

SCOPE OF THE POSITION: The Buyer/Planner oversees the scheduling and planning of purchased materials utilized during the production process for specified value streams of products. He or she also plans the production of the value streams to match the incoming purchased material so that we can meet our customers' lead times. The Buyer/Planner is an integral part of the production team and must be involved in creating a plant environment of a culture of service.
REQUIREMENTS: The Buyer/Planner must have a working knowledge of computers and the ability to multitask on several different assignments at once. The ideal candidate will have a background in scheduling and production planning. He or she will have a sound understanding of lean principles. (Previous experience with Oracle helpful)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
PURCHASING AND SCHEDULING DELIVER OF FINISHED PRODUCTS
- Develop a relationship and weekly contact with our sister plants who supply us our externally produced products.This should include a schedule that is published as agreed upon confirming when we are expecting shipments to arrive and any issues that have been communicated to us.
- Ensure on time deliveries of externally produced finished products by non-CTB companies. You must develop relationships with non-CTB companies who supply us finished products. Also communicating any stocking issues and escalating as appropriate.
- Communicate any lead time that exceeds our customer expectations caused by the supply plant to customer service, Plant Manager, shipping receiving supervisor and Customer Service Manager.
- Planning arrival of the finished product to coincide with the plant's production and ability to complete an order.
PURCHASING RAW MATERIAL
- Translate orders into needed raw material
- Order raw material so that the plant has what is needs but is still exceeding its inventory turn targets
- Target raw material cost reductions each year
- Negotiate pricing and establish raw material agreements to meet production & customer need
- Monitor supplier quality and delivery
- Produce a plant schedule that will meet our customers' lead time expectations.
- Schedule plants production is a manner that induces a productive and logical flow.
- Communicate both verbally and in written format any plant issues that will cause us to exceed our communicated customer lead time to the Sales Manager, Plant Manager, Production Group, and Customer Service group.
- Monitor delivery timing for open orders
- Monitor customer order changes
- Manage inventory issues related to Engineering Change orders
- Communication of potential issues from the Production floor to the Customer Service Group, Sales Manager, Plant Manager.
- Communication of outside purchased parts to the floor and how this affects the production schedule.
- Communication to the production floor of changes in the customer's needs and what needs to happen to ensure that we are exceeding our customer expectations.
