Maintains high standards of care and service in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and PNHS. Supports the process of improving existing processes and outcomes; including but not limited to patient health outcomes, satisfaction, and confidentiality. Models behavior and commitment with group practice and Park Nicollet Health Services values. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination: Master's degree required. Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: Must be a registered nurse licensed in the state of Minnesota, who has successfully completed a formal nurse practitioner program approved by a national accrediting agency and who is then certified by a national certified organization recognized by the Minnesota State Board of Nursing. CPR certification. Maintenance of National certification as a nurse practitioner required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proven proficiency in the operation of the following: Defibrillator, Various Health Testing Devices (depending upon the area of specialty), Telephone, Blood Drawing or Injection Devices, Thermometer, Scale, Ultrasound Equipment, CRT, Printer, and Photocopier. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination: NA Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: NA Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong clinical, human relations, leadership, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to effectively problem solve and make sound decisions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (40-80%) - Provides general patient care in collaboration with physician: involving observation, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. (10-30%) - Offers preventative health care counseling and instructs patients on treatment plans. (1-25%) - Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' clinical problems and health care needs. (1-30%) - Performs therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as indicated by training and experience, and as directed by physician. (5-25%) - Consults with physician on difficult, unusual, or abnormal cases and makes appropriate referrals and consultations for evaluation or treatment. (1-40%) - Makes hospital or nursing home rounds as directed by physician. (1-10%) - Assists in the development of new policies, programs, procedures, materials, or techniques for designated department. (1-10%) - Serves as a resource to nursing staff and other support staff, providing continuing education. (5-30%) - Performs patient follow-up including returning phone calls within 24 hours, evaluating and processing test results, dictating medical record information, compiling reports, and maintaining necessary paperwork. (100%) - Recognizes and appropriately responds to medical emergencies 100% of the time. (100%) - Serves as patient advocate by maintaining patient confidentiality, protecting patient rights, and always resolving concerns or complaints regarding care or service.
