Assistant Maintenance Manager

Summary Assistant Maintenance Manager is responsible for providing solutions in all aspects of the maintenance department including team members, communication, equipment maintenance, organization, safety, purchasing and projects within the departments. **Essential Duties And Responsibilities Personnel** Develop people and team member skill sets Provide for developmental training (In house/outside). Encourage performance through formal and informal performance reviews. Provide positive leadership influence inside and outside of department. Consistent application of company policies and processes. Manage weekly time sheets accurately and consistently. Manage labor cost as efficiently as possible relative to demands upon department and budget Conduct interviews and manage the decision-making process for new team members within the department. Communication Review initiatives, issues, changes, and performance measurement. Attend and participate in management meetings. Support company objectives while providing input relative to opportunities for improvement. Equipment Maintenance Maintain equipment in good working order. Assure that materials and directions are in place in order to execute equipment maintenance effectively. Set up schedules for PM and provide communication to production Organization Maintain shop and storage areas in a clean and organized manner. Maintain reference material in an organized and updated manner. Complete all purchase order paperwork accurately and timely. Ensure all spare parts inventories are at effective levels, organized and available. Maintain equipment maintenance documents, mechanical work order requests, safety work order requests in an organized, easily accessible manner. Safety Meet all maintenance related OSHA safety regulations including required safety adherence, required inspections, and facility maintenance. Follow up on various maintenance tasks related to safety as a result of Safety Committee recommendations, inspections or employee suggestions. Maintain all equipment to OEM, OSHA or company established safety standards. Take initiative to bring unsafe conditions to the attention of the appropriate person or to resolve personally. Projects Participate in the development of improvement projects and in some cases manage the process. Participate with Engineering in the execution of capital projects. Provide project related feedback related to cost estimate, time estimates, etc. Purchasing Purchase of necessary parts and components to maintain plant and equipment in a safe and efficient manner to include parts required by various projects. Work with vendors to reduce spending where possible and seeking other alternatives where appropriate to reduce costs. Utilize purchasing system to enter orders. Managing the budget annual expenses. Qualifications General: Advanced mechanical experience in industrial environment Advanced electrical experience in industrial environment Education And/or Experience Technical Degree or strong experience relative to the industry Minimum 5 years of experience working with maintenance in an industrial facility Minimum 3 years of managerial experience Language Skills English, oral and written communication skills Mathematical Skills Moderate mathematical skills with high school equivalence Have understanding of decimals and fractions Reasoning Ability Advanced reasoning skills Have the ability to work through electrical and mechanical concepts. Have the ability to train others. Computer Skills Basic computer skills Knowledge of Microsoft Office/Word, Excel, Outlook CAD E-Plan Maintenance software applications/ PLC logic *Physical Demands: * The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Heating is provided in the winter and basic cooling in the summer. Work performed may be required to be outside of the building. Work is performed by using both hands and arms while in a standing position, including frequent bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, squatting, or kneeling for an eight-hour shift or more. Ability to work in hot/humid or cold environments. Moderate noise level. Occasionally works in high areas.
