Position Summary
The Patient Registration Supervisor promotes an excellent patient experience by providing on-site supervision and direction to a specific area within patient registration or financial counseling. This position occasionally performs the duties of the Patient Access Specialist and FACES roles.
Patient registration areas supported by this role may include main hospital registration, emergency department registration, pre-registration, financial counseling, and Children's Specialty Clinic registration. The department operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The patient registration supervisor is expected to be on call during the week and on rotating weekends.
This position is responsible for supporting the team by assigning daily work, answering questions and solving escalated problems, recruiting and hiring qualified employees, ensuring an engaged workforce, and appropriately managing the staff schedule. The Patient Registration Supervisor represents the department at meetings with internal and external stakeholders and must be knowledgeable in all department functions.
Location: On-site in Minneapolis and St. Paul. This is not a remote work position.

Qualifications:
License/Certification/Registration required:
*MNSure certification required within 3 months of hire date
Education:
*Associate's degree in business, healthcare administration or related field, or equivalent work experience
Preferred Education:
*Bachelor's degree in business or healthcare administration
Experience:
*Two years' experience in a healthcare setting and one year in a related leadership role
Preferred experience:
*Three years' experience in patient access (i.e. registration, scheduling, financial counseling, billing, or related field) or other high volume customer service environment
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
*Outstanding knowledge of customer service, communication, confidentiality, and interpersonal skills.
*Demonstrated knowledge of patient access operations and medical office procedures.
*Knowledge of medical terminology and services provided in a hospital or clinic setting.
*Knowledge of governmental and commercial insurance products and related registration requirements.
*Knowledge of Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Iowa Medicaid products and enrollment requirements.
*Knowledge of service recovery and conflict resolution.
*Ability to lead, mentor and motivate a team that delivers exceptional customer service in person and via telephone.
*Skill in critical thinking and problem solving.
*Skill in general office equipment and software; technical aptitude.
*Ability to effectively work in both a team environment and independently.
*Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, patients, families, peers, and direct reports.

The posted pay range represents rates for a grouping of multiple jobs within a salary grade. We carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Children's Minnesota.
