Phlebotomists needed Multiple locations in Portland area for large healthcare organization Job Description: Phlebotomist will be responsible for greeting patients as they come into the lab, doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc. Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required. Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understand all of the physicians' orders. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct. Package specimens for transport. Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/ tube, accurately labels, follows different procedures as outlined by specific to protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain integrity of the specimen. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Phlebotomist is also responsible for prepping the site, handling insurance, billing and processing samples. Need to provide excellent customer service to patients. Skills: Drawing blood, Blood drawing, Specimen processing, Laboratory, Venipuncture, Blood draw, Phlebotomy, Customer service, Specimen collection, Phlebotomy certification Additional Skills & Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Completion of a Phlebotomy Training Program highly preferred (not required). Washington Phlebotomy certification (ONLY required for candidates who will be working in Washington – if only working in Oregon then no certification is required). 1.5+ years of Phlebotomy experience. Patient first mindset (places value in providing the best care possible to all patients). Personality/culture fit is HUGE - must be reliable, positive, hardworking, takes initiative/self-starter, coachable, flexible/comfortable working with a level of ambiguity, and works well with others. Proven history of reliability and positive attendance.
