Los Angeles, United States Metropolis Full time
Location: Santa Monica, CA (Hybrid)

The Company

Metropolis is an artificial intelligence company that uses computer vision technology to enable frictionless, checkout-free experiences in the real world. Today, we are reimagining parking to enable millions of consumers to just "drive in and drive out." We envision a future where people transact in the real world with a speed, ease and convenience that is unparalleled, even online. Tomorrow, we will power checkout-free experiences anywhere you go to make the everyday experiences of living, working and playing remarkable - giving us back our most valuable asset, time.

The Role

We are seeking a Product Designer to lead the vision and execution of our enterprise products. Our goal is nothing short of creating a remarkable, differentiated product experience - in an industry that has seen little to no innovation in decades. Among other workstreams, your primary responsibility will be to lead design within an ecosystem of enterprise products that provide data, insights, and tools for our real estate partners.

We have a unique product that connects the online and offline worlds and presents UX problems that would challenge the most talented product designers. Most companies have a digital product that can be designed and optimized based on easily obtainable key metrics. In our case, not only do we have to come up with the optimal design for our digital products, but we also must ensure that these designs seamlessly connect with physical assets, like signage, that we have deployed in our facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Problem solve, think big, and explore divergent concepts/ideas while understanding how to converge and build iteratively towards your vision.
  • Influence the shape of the enterprise product with research and data while executing design work using high quality wireframes, mockups, user journeys, and cross-platform interactive prototypes.
  • Advocate for design by sharing your work and presenting cross-functionally, while being able to precisely articulate design rationale.
  • Inspire the entire team (including your cross-functional partners) by bringing new ideas to the table.
  • Create a unified, end-to-end experience through close collaboration with the Product and Engineering Teams.
  • Contribute to a cohesive customer journey through close collaboration with Brand Design, Marketing, and Sales, particularly as it relates to the visualization of data.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Experience designing on multiple platforms (e.g., iOS, Android, Mobile Web, Desktop).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly proficient with design tools (e.g., Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Highly proficient with interactive prototyping tools (e.g., Framer, Principle, Origami, Invision Studio).
  • Proven track record with building complete design systems.
  • Excellence in design craft.
  • Ability to work with a low-ego, highly collaborative, cross-functional team.
  • Excited about working in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.

When you join Metropolis, you'll join a team of world-class product leaders and engineers, building an ecosystem of technologies at the intersection of parking, mobility, and real estate. Our goal is to build an inclusive culture where everyone has a voice and the best idea wins. You will play a key role in building and maintaining this culture as our organization grows. The anticipated base salary for this position is $120,000.00 to 160,000.00 annually. The actual base pay offered is determined by a number of variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment. Base pay is one component of Metropolis's total compensation package, which may also include access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a lucrative stock option plan, bonus plans and more.
