ECHO is hiring an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer. This position is located on-site at our Lake Zurich, IL facility.

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer holds a key role in the development and optimization of processes, equipment, and labor standards within the assembly area of the Operations Department. Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, this position involves project management and design of automated equipment from concept to implementation.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to identify and oversee new automation projects and production line Kaizens.
  • Assume a leadership role in conceptualizing, facilitating the construction, and implementing automation strategies within ECHO's manufacturing process.
  • Obtain competitive quotes for equipment and components, create evaluation spreadsheets or similar documentation, and offer recommendations based on findings.
  • Aid/lead in crafting project scope, justifying costs, and presenting capital expense requests to senior management for approval as needed.
  • Coordinate with the in-house automation team to adhere to timelines for automation projects.
  • Assess process requirements, develop project timelines, monitor progress, and provide updates for the installation of new equipment or ongoing enhancements to existing production equipment.
  • Monitor and manage project costs, quality, scope, and schedule to ensure timely delivery within internal budgets.
  • Conduct employee training sessions on new equipment, ensuring effective communication among team members.
  • Execute work assignments according to a predetermined schedule, demonstrating autonomy and minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Maintain records to document cost savings meeting or exceeding annual objectives.
Job Experience/Skills:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in either industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or manufacturing engineering within a high-paced manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency in Solidworks and project management is essential.
  • Expertise in assembly processes, PLCs, industrial sensors, pneumatic systems, hydraulics, robotics, electrical systems, and automation is preferred.
  • Solid understanding and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is a must.


Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
