TITLE: Technology Specialist I

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Associate of Arts Degree in Information Technology or related field; or four years of experience providing information technology services; or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  2. Advanced experience with hardware and software in both PC and McIntosh platforms and multiple devices.
  3. Bilingual preferred.
REPORTS TO: Director of Technology

JOB GOAL: Provide technology support to students, faculty and staff in the District. Serve as a technology specialist in assisting the District in more advanced work with desktop/application, printer support adn to ensure the effective use of technology.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Helps in maintaining network hardware, software and operating systems in the district.
  2. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office.
  3. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of File Server operations, server based software, and e-mail.
  4. Maintains strong troubleshooting skills in all areas of hardware and software.
  5. Troubleshoots and maintains PC software and hardware ensuring proper network connectivity.
  6. Maintains computers and other equipment in the PC labs.
  7. Maintains an inventory of all hardware and software.
  8. Develop and publish approved documentation to support technology use district-wide.
  9. Escalate network issues to appropriate personnel.
  10. Provide appropriate documentation of troubleshooting steps completed via centralized system for receiving and documenting work orders.
  11. Resolve hardware configuration and malfunctioning equipment issues.
  12. Install, add, test, troubleshoot, repair, move, change-out, maintain and upgrade PC's, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
  13. Effectively communicate all support aspects to all levels of personnel in a support driven customer-oriented manner.
  14. Create and change domain user accounts/computer accounts and passwords using TESD approved application software.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Must have the ability to access, input and retrieve information from the computer. Will be required to drive a vehicle to and from schools and departments. Good verbal and written communication skills. May be required to push, pull, climb, crawl and lift 50+ pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Twelve months, beginning salary Grade 7 on the Classified Hourly Salary Schedule. Employee benefits in accordance with Board policy.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of support staff.
