Position Description:

We seek a Senior Electrical Engineer to support our Combat Mission Systems business, focusing on ground combat vehicles. The candidate will collaborate closely with one or more electronics suppliers to provide electrical engineering support in the manufacture of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs)/circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and associated system Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) enclosures for one of our combat vehicle systems.

The selected candidate will be co-located with assigned suppliers in Huntsville, Alabama, USA, ensuring ongoing high production quality. The engineer must have experience in PCBAs/CCAs design and manufacture and will assist in resolving supplier quality and manufacturing process concerns directly supporting production. Responsibilities include:
  • Investigating, evaluating, and resolving supplier quality problems.
  • Analyzing defect trends and leading continuous improvement projects.
  • Ensuring suppliers understand requirements and expectations through effective communication.
  • Making progress reports and presenting findings.
  • Supporting team-led problem-solving and root-cause analysis activities with assigned suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances.
  • Evaluating the impact of nonconforming products and assessing suppliers' corrective actions.
  • Assisting suppliers with process improvements to resolve manufacturing process concerns.
  • Driving a "Zero Defect" mentality within the supply base.
  • Participating in Technical Interchange Meetings within the Integrated Product Team.
Note: Due to a government contract, US citizenship status is required for this position.

Skills Required:
  • Effective, practical problem solver using structured problem-solving methods and systems.
  • Understanding of technical drawing requirements with the ability to determine compliance.
  • Computer skills including MS Office Suite and related industry software applications.
  • Effective, clear communicator with strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Skills Preferred:

While not required, the following skills are preferred:
  • Design of PCBA/CCA for aerospace or defense industries.
  • Working knowledge of MIL-PRF-31032, MIL-PRF-55110, IPC-A-610, and IPC-A-620.
  • Familiarity with fabrication processes, equipment, test, and instrumentation common in Aerospace and Defense Industries.
  • Experience with production line validation, test, equipment, instrumentation, and qualification of fabricated products.
  • Understanding of AS9100 Quality System, AS9102C First Article Requirements, AS9145 APQP/PPAP Requirements, and Source Inspection.
  • Experience in low voltage (28Vdc) and/or high voltage (610Vdc) electrical power distribution and management.
  • Experience in servo amplifier design, manufacturing, and testing.
  • Working knowledge of design for environmental qualification including EMI/EMC design and qualification principles.
  • Familiarity with IPC-6012, IPC-6013, IPC-6018, subordinate IPC standards/guidelines, MIL-PRF-31032, MIL-PRF-55110, MIL-STD-883, MIL-PRF-38534, and ASME Y14.5.
Experience Required:
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a relevant function and industry.
  • Working knowledge and familiarity with IPC-A-600, IPC J-STD-001.
  • Exposure to Failure Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and Corrective/Preventative Actions.
Experience Preferred:

While not mandatory, the following experiences are preferred:
  • Experience with the design of PCBA/CCA for aerospace or defense industries.
  • Experience with fabrication processes, equipment, test, and instrumentation common in Aerospace and Defense Industries.
  • Experience with production line validation, test, equipment, instrumentation, and qualification of fabricated products.
  • Exposure to ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality Systems and AS9102B First Article Requirements or comparable industry standards.
  • Experience with low voltage (28Vdc) and/or high voltage (610Vdc) electrical power distribution and management.
  • Experience with servo amplifier design, manufacturing, and testing.
Education Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Education Preferred:

While not required, the following education is preferred:
  • Certification to IPC-A-600.
