Responsibilities

Design, develop, and code new system and programming functions in an AS400 environment using RPG III/IV and CL Languages.  Develop Technical and Programming specifications from Functional Specification documents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Analyze and develop technical and programming specifications for both functional and technical requirements
  • Develop and administer programming standards
  • Maintain program and system documentation
  • Assist co-workers in the definition and problem resolution of new and existing requirements
  • Code, test, debug and document programs within a structured methodology
  • Train I.S. Staff on new and modified programs and procedures
  • Mentor programming interns and new team members.
  • Co-ordinate, monitor and manage outstanding tasks
  • Assist IS Staff with problem investigation and resolution
  • Complete any tasks the director deems appropriate

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Minimum fifteen years of experience as a programmer/analyst
  • Minimum fifteen years of experience with RPG III or RPG/400
  • Knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Experience in System 21 a plus
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process
  • Knowledge of automotive industry experience a plus
  • Ability to mentor upcoming programmers
  • Bi-lingual preferred
Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university
    • Fifteen years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Programmer Analyst)

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Bi-lingual preferred.  Technical: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Minimum 10 years’ experience as a programmer/analyst
    • Minimum 10 years’ experience with RPG III, RPG/400, ILE, CL
    • Knowledge of manufacturing process
    • Knowledge of automotive industry experience a plus
    • Project management experience
