The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a dedicated and forward-thinking Product Line Specialist to join our Biopharma organization. You will be responsible for maintaining and developing production chemicals, with a focus on supporting the growth targets of the organization. This role involves close collaboration with Product Managers and significant cross-functional interaction.

This will be a hybrid role based in South-Eastern Pennsylvania or New Jersey that will require onsite presence in Radnor, PA, Phillipsburg, NJ, Bridgewater, NJ and / or Allentown, PA locations.

What we're looking for

  • Education: BS/BA in a scientific or business-related discipline; Concentrations in Biology, Biopharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and/or Marketing preferred

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience in biopharma, pharma, chemical or related industry

    • Previous experience identifying market opportunities and determining feasibility

    • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 10-15%

  • Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams, Word, etc.) experience highly preferred

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Statistical data analysis and knowledge of quality procedures

    • SAP ERP software experience

How you will thrive and create an impact

  • Assist in the development and management of the Product Line

  • Respond to customer (internal & external) queries and material related complaints and resolve between manufacturing and customers/sales

  • Works to resolve technical issues with manufacturing, engineering, and quality on product line complaints handling and supply chain issues (complaints around packaging, suppliers, quality, specs)

  • Accountable for specifications of products with customers and aligning specification with manufacturing capability

  • Manage regulatory issues and requirements. Takes ownership of New Product Setup and Management of Change, etc.

  • Respond to technical questions from customers and sales team on existing products in a timely manner

  • Prepare competitive product feature comparison spreadsheets, prepare competitive pricing analysis and conduct ongoing market insight

  • Maintain product line data in systems - ERP, specification, master data, accurate records of all correspondence as procedures, instructions, technical data, etc.

  • Developing and providing input for the content of all collateral materials

  • Assists in communicating to the field sales team on questions and requests as well as asking for feedback

  • Prepare and provide product training for field sales and customer service including existing and new products

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)

Typically works in an office or manufacturing environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.

Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.

A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.

Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
