Job Description:

Health Mentors at ServiceNet's Wellness Program are responsible for creating tailored nutrition and movement programs for participants that are based upon their individual needs and goals. Health Mentors help participants identify and track these goals, encourage social connections, support making improvements in their daily food choices, collect data about each participant, and communicate in a clear and timely manner with all stakeholders. Reports to Director, Wellness Programming.

Qualifications:
  • have a college degree in a field related to health science (Biology, Nutrition, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology) and have at least 2 years of experience in a wellness related field
  • are reliable, outgoing, and highly adaptable
  • have a flexible approach to what wellness can mean for a wide range of individuals
  • have a background in personal training or fitness instruction and want to utilize your skillset to help people with unique challenges
Preferred skills:
  • Motivational interviewing
  • Administering quantitative and qualitative assessments
  • Fitness instruction (both private and group classes)
  • Nutrition Coaching
  • Able to exercise alongside participants
  • Available for remote check-ins with participants during business hours
  • Able to maintain healthy boundaries around participant's mental health and wellness journeys
  • Helping clients with diabetes management
  • Comfortable leading group discussions
  • Potentially able to travel within the Pioneer Valley to meet clients at other fitness facilities

In addition to these skills, experience working with individuals facing severe and persistent mental illness, cognitive or intellectual challenges, as well as addiction and recovery is preferable. As a Health Mentor, you are willing to learn extensively about each participant's background to provide highly informed care and guidance. This could include studying psychotropic drugs and their side effects, chronic illnesses, recovery from substance abuse, and collaborating with mental and personal health care providers (when appropriate) to optimize participant's success in the program

Compensation: $50,000.00 per year
