Overview

Position Summary:

The Linux System Engineer role supports project work related to the development of a state of the art, industrial particle accelerator system for medical radioisotope production.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:
  • Develop scripts, automation, templates, containers, system images, and virtual machines to improve
    availability of the control system.
  • Propose improvements to control system to eliminate points of failure.
  • Document processes and procedures into the group knowledgebase.
  • Modify and/or debug vendor-supplied software utilities and packages built on the EPICS framework.
  • Plan and coordinate the design, procurement, installation, configuration, and maintenance of managed
    switches, servers, and networking equipment.
  • Provide additional OT infrastructure support and project assistance as required.
  • Quickly respond to and resolve issues and outages.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience developing or maintaining software for Linux systems.
  • Experience in the use and configuration of containers (Ex: Kubernetes).
  • Experience in the use and configuration of VE software (Ex: Hypervisor).
  • Network fundamentals in enterprise routing and switching.
  • Comfortable to work in Linux terminal and use scripting language such as Bash/Python.
  • Fundamental understanding of Linux networking, file sharing, process/module management, and system
    configuration.
  • Basic understanding of cyber security best practices.
  • Proficiency in version control software such as Git.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Development experience with EPICS (Experimental Physics Industrial Control System).
  • At least 2 years' experience with network operations or implementation.
  • Experience with configuration of Cisco switches.
  • Experience in C/C++, Python & OOP.
