Duration: 3+ months
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Embedded Linux Software Engineer to join our team in West Warwick, RI, for a project duration of 3+ months. The successful candidate will work on developing software for a new controller board for a Thermal Cockpit Printer designed for the A220 aircraft. This role involves enhancing an existing software platform, incorporating new Ethernet PHYs, and addressing network security requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain software for the new controller board of a Thermal Cockpit Printer.
- Adapt and update existing printer software, incorporating new Ethernet ports and PHYs.
- Perform network security audits and update software packages to address vulnerabilities.
- Install device drivers for new chips on the board.
- Use oscilloscopes for testing and debugging the software on the hardware.
- Work closely with the Electrical Engineer consultant, who has extensive experience with the previous hardware.
Technical Requirements:
- Embedded C Linux Development: Proficient in Embedded C programming within a Linux environment, particularly for device driver development.
- Drivers and Network Security: Experience with driver development and a solid understanding of network security principles.
- Ethernet Ports and PHYs: Knowledge of incorporating Ethernet ports and PHYs into embedded systems.
- Oscilloscopes: Ability to use oscilloscopes for testing and debugging.
- Yocto Linux Build System: Familiarity with Yocto Linux build system is highly recommended; other Linux build systems may be considered.
- Device Trees, Memory Maps, Wait State: Competent in navigating device trees, understanding memory maps, managing wait states, and configuring processor setup registers.
- Booting from SPI NOR: Experience with booting systems from SPI NOR.
Preferred Background:
- Aerospace, printer, or electronics industry experience.
- Comfort with working on hardware and software in an integrated manner.
Logistics:
- Location: Primarily on-site in West Warwick, RI, for the first 2-3 months.
- Remote Work: Potential for hybrid flexibility (up to 1 day a week remotely) after the initial period.
- Relocation: Candidates from NY, PA, NJ, OH willing to temporarily relocate to RI may be considered.
- Eligibility: Open to US citizens, green card holders, or EAD holders.
