The Quality Control & Proofing Technician is responsible for the quality check of all prepress graphics files prior to being sent to customers for final approval. The Tech will also manufacture final hard copy proofs for our customers and print facilities. Additionally, the Technician will assist with the writing of and maintaining the quality documents for the WestRock Digital Prepress Center. A commitment to providing high quality printing and services to WestRock customers, both internal and external, is essential. The ability to prioritize and meet deadlines is required. How You Will Impact WestRock Essential Job Functions • After the production artists have met all of the customer’s requirements, the Tech will thoroughly conduct a detailed quality check of the customer’s graphics in digital and/or hard copy format. • Maintain and keep quality documents including Checklists, Work Instructions, and Single Point Lessons in Complaint Pro. • Ability to review quality of press ready files including traps, bleeds, barcodes, color, image quality and other WestRock file specs. • Track and maintain calibration of instruments in the Digital Center, including spectrophotometers, light booths, barcode readers, proofers, and scales. • Understand converting facilities’ quality requirements including SQF, CGMP, and other quality programs. • Fully operate and maintain all of the proofing devices, imagers and/or ink jet printers producing final proofs for our customers and print facilities • Maintain accurate color, densities, and dot gain on all our customer’s proofs. Must have the ability to measure color and formulate color recipes on all proofing devices. • Maintain inventories for all graphic art supplies, cardboard substrates, shipping, and office supplies for the Digital Service Center. Create product requisitions and generate Purchase Orders. Document the product orders received in WestRock’s purchasing application. • When workload necessitates, assist in shipping of customer proofs and other parcels to our print facilities. • This is a 5 day a week on site position. • Minimal travel - may visit WestRock converting plants. What You need: • Related Bachelor’s Degree preferred, High School Diploma or equivalent required • 3+ years of related experience in prepress • Color Management experience • Proficient with Mac and Windows desktop applications, Microsoft Office Suite • Knowledge of printing terminology and practices • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Excellent problem-solving skills • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure • Organized and detail-oriented • Ability to work independently and within a team environment • Adherence to WestRock Values and Behaviors • Adherence to Safety Guidelines, including personal protective equipment WestRock (NYSE:WRK) partners with our customers to provide differentiated paper and packaging solutions that help them win in the marketplace.
