You will be responsible for software testing activities throughout the software release cycle. Your role will include numerically validating and benchmarking state-of-the-art algorithms developed by SAS for analyzing IoT data.

You will test cloud-based SAS IoT products and solutions, working with limited requirements or design specifications to develop unique test cases that reflect real customer environments. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional team members to review test designs and test cases.

As part of the test team, you will write algorithm prototype programs, automation scripts, and automated test cases. You will also create test data to simulate customer use cases and develop tools to automate test processes in a CI/CD environment.

As a Analytics Software Tester you will:

  • Design, develop, and execute high quality, flexible and scalable cloud-based applications, frameworks and tools in support of a variety of testing activities.
  • Plan, document, and perform functional, validation, and systematic testing for new and existing software.
  • Perform numerical validation of algorithms including independent coding, cross-validation with existing SAS products or third-party products, equivalence, simulation, or predictive performance.
  • Report defects, evaluate fix requests, and verify fixes.
  • Automate regression testing on all applicable platforms and maintain test cases.
  • Review software design during development stage and provide feedback to developers.
  • Stay current with analytical methodologies by researching literature and participating in courses or conferences.
  • Communicate with developers, product marketing managers, and industry experts to define testing strategies and coverage.
  • Review software documentation and provide feedback.
  • Assist Tech Support and consultants in resolving customer issues.
  • Keep current with SAS internal testing methodologies and approaches; regularly evaluate third-party tools/solutions.
  • Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization’s secure software development goals.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years of professional experience in at least one analytical discipline, or advanced knowledge in several analytical disciplines.
  • Master’s degree or a Ph.D. in statistics, machine learning, computational mathematics, financial mathematics, operations research or a related field.
  • Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
  • Experience with a high-level language like SAS IML, MATLAB, Octave, Julia or R.
  • Experience with test automation, automation infrastructure setup and creating test data for test execution and data integrity verification.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance on day-to-day work and new projects or assignments.
  • You’re curious, passionate, authentic and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Programming skills in SAS or language(s) related to assigned area. Some examples are Python, C, Java and Lua.
