Job Summary:

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that products or services meet the required quality standards and specifications. This role inspects products or materials to identify any defects, deviations, from specifications, or other quality issues. The employee will work in close collaboration with the Production and Engineering departments to identify quality issues and implement solutions.

Essential Functions:
  • Conducts inspections of products, materials, and components to ensure they meet quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs various tests and measurements, such as dimensional checks, hardness tests, and functional tests, to assess product quality performance.
  • Recording inspection results, test data, and other relevant information accurately and maintaining detailed records of inspection activities for documentation and traceability purposes.
  • Identifying and documenting any defects, discrepancies, or non-conformities found during inspections, and determining the root causes of quality issues.
  • Collaborates with productions teams, engineers, and other stakeholders to troubleshoot quality issues, identify corrective actions, and implements solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Selects samples from the production batches for inspection and testing according to sampling plans, standards, or specifications to ensure representative sampling and accurate assessment of product quality.
  • Ensures that inspection tools, equipment, and instruments are properly calibrated and maintained to ensure accuracy and reliability in measurement and testing.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant quality standards, regulations, and industry requirements through thorough inspection and adherence to quality procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Collaborates with other members of the production team to ensure that deadlines are met, and products are delivered on time.
  • Consistently abides by established safety rules, procedures, and regulations including wearing required safety equipment such as safety shoes and glasses.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
  • Identifies and reports quality or safety issues to supervisor or manager.
  • Works effectively with co-workers and supervisors, sharing knowledge, resources, and experience to achieve production goals in a timely fashion, while promoting respect, communication, and teamwork.
Requirements

Skills and Abilities:
  • Attention to detail: The ability to perform tasks with precision, accuracy, and thoroughness, paying close attention to all aspects of the work and identifying and correcting errors or inconsistencies as needed.
  • Basic math skills: The ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and measurements accurately and efficiently, using arithmetic and geometry principles as needed.
  • Communication skills: The ability to convey and receive information effectively, clearly, and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Dependability: Reliability and consistency of attendance, punctuality, and completion of assigned tasks according to established standards and expectations with little supervision.
  • Follow directions: The ability to follow established procedures while performing tasks, using tools, and handling materials. Carefully consider and follow instructions to complete tasks and deliver required results.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Physical dexterity: The employee must be able to bend, twist, and reach while handling boxes. The employee is also required to stand, walk, use hands to handle and feel, and to hear.
  • Lifting: The employee must be able to lift and move boxes weighing up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis, and boxes weighing up to 60 lbs. occasionally, with help.
  • Vision: The vision requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Endurance: The employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time and perform physical tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exposure to elements: The employee will be working in a warehouse environment and may be exposed to varying temperatures and inclement weather conditions. There will also be frequent exposure to dirt and dust.
  • Noise level: The employee will be exposed to a moderate noise level in the workplace for the majority of the day, due to the constant use of forklift and hand-held power tools.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • A high school diploma/GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least three years of previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least one year of previous experience in quality control.
  • Must have a good understanding of quality control principles, inspection techniques, and be proficient in using measurement tools.
