Summary: The Extruder Operator role is responsible for our mixer and extruder operations and supporting the surrounding operations from the pre-heat tanks to the brine belt. Our skilled operators are expected to develop an expert level knowledge of the functioning and troubleshooting for their machine and/or area. Schedule: Leprino Foods is a 24/7 operating facility, and the employee must be willing and able to work weekends, holidays, and other shifts as necessary. Our schedules run 12 hours on a 2-2-3 rotation that allows for every other weekend off. After training is complete, new hires will be assigned a regular schedule on the next available shift. Pay Rate: $27.35/hr plus evening and weekend differentials Responsibilities: Operate and monitor mixers, extruders, and dry mixer according to SOPs. Maintain all production specifications (proper temperatures, salt, preheat levels and solids). Maintain moisture control, dry ingredient application, hex application and refinish rates of application. Oversee the entire finishing operation from the pre-heat tanks to the brine belt, shut down equipment at the end of production and make all physical connections for CIP hook up, monitor chemical strengths, and reassemble equipment for production. Take timely samples to the lab for analysis and obtain results promptly. React to all results and notify and out of spec conditions to the Team Lead or Supervisor. Ability to troubleshoot all equipment and identify potential problems. Communicate problems to Department management. Enter and maintain MES & SAP information. Oversee all finish records (dry ingredients, hex application logs and refinish logs). Follow all GMPs and work in a safe manner. Report any unsafe conditions. Ensure proper housekeeping through a clean work area. Ensure no product or chemical leaks. Other duties as assigned Requirements: Must be a minimum of 18 years old. Ability to pass a physical abilities test to assess ability to bend, reach, lift, pull, and climb stairs/ladders as required for the position. Must be able to work Sunday - Saturday, off-shifts, weekends, holidays, and required overtime to support a 24 hour/7 day operation. Preferred skills: Experience in a manufacturing environment. Proficient computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office products. Familiarity or ability to learn SAP, or similar integrated manufacturing system. Prior food industry experience. Physical Demands & Environment: This position will be exposed to working in a wet/slippery environment with loud noise in varying degrees of temperature. Must be able to withstand high heat and humidity. Specific vision may be required for this position, including close vision, distance vision, color and depth perception, and the ability to read computer screens for extended time periods. Ability to pass a physical abilities test to assess ability to bend, reach, lift, pull, and climb stairs/ladders. Able to access confined space and work on a platform off the ground. Must be able to lift up to 46 lbs daily, pull up to 60 lbs, climb a ladder, and walk up/downstairs. Why work for Leprino Foods in Waverly?
