Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years of relevant nursing experience

License:
Illinois State RN License in good standing

Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Must-Have:
- Experience in a Surgical Center
- ACLS/BLS Certification
- NIHSS Certification

Job Description:
The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care through the nursing process. The RN utilizes nursing trends, technology, and resources within the philosophy of the institution. Essential responsibilities include:

- Performing all duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service.
- Implementing procedures and theories related to the area of practice.
- Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided.
- Completing initial assessments upon patient admission and developing appropriate care plans.
- Implementing care plans, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.
- Modifying care plans based on continuous evaluation.
- Reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents for patient and employee safety.
- Communicating effectively to resolve issues and offering feedback for professional development of peers.
- Identifying personal learning needs and taking initiative for solutions.
- Fulfilling all departmental competency requirements.

Department Specific Functions:
- Conducting complete patient assessments and documenting data accurately.
- Recognizing normal and abnormal findings and notifying physicians as appropriate.
- Establishing plans of care and setting treatment goals.
- Establishing IVs on patients over 8 years of age and practicing the 5 rights of medication administration.
- Participating in the 'time-out' process with OR staff.
