Position Description
Initial responsibility will be to help develop PAR’s next generation Drive-Through systems and provide ongoing support for the current generation of Drive-Through systems. The Drive-Through system is comprised of many different hardware devices and embedded software platforms. The embedded platforms range from embedded Linux to microcontroller platforms.

Position Location
US Remote Hybrid - New Hartford, NY or San Diego, CA
Pay Band
The base salary range for this position is $108,800 to $151,200 USD per year commensurate with work location, experience, skills, certifications, education, and prior accomplishments. The position may be eligible for additional compensation, including a bonus, commission and/or equity, as applicable.
What We’re Looking For
- Sr Embedded Software Engineer with prior experience with embedded software development.
What You will Do and Be Responsible For
- Design, document, implement, and unit test software for PAR’s drive through systems.
- Play an active role in the creation of software requirements and architectures.
- Support SQA and others with verification and validation activities.
- Most importantly, to be part of the team, and meet the needs of our customers.
Why We Need You (Skill and Abilities)
- 5+ years of experience programming embedded systems in C/C++
- Comfortable with Python (3.x)
- Experience with real-time operating systems and multithreaded programming
- Experience design and building software that executes on multiple hardware and operating system platforms.
- Strong debugging skills and the ability to isolate system issues to the component level.
- Demonstrated experience in and comfort with all phases of the product development lifecycle including design, implementation, unit testing, debug, verification, validation, and transfer to manufacturing.
- Experience with GIT and submitting Pull Requests.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- A desire to design and implement quality software in a timely manner.
- Comfortable working in a SCRUM development environment.
Experience with 2 or more of the following is highly desirable:
- Experience with C++.
- Experience with SOLID principles, object-oriented design, and design patterns.
- Experience with one or more network stacks such as TCP/IP, web sockets, MQTT, and REST interfaces.
- Experience with developing software for embedded Linux applications.
- Experience with setting up pipelines for Continuous Integration and/or build servers.
