Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse

Job Specialty: Mother Baby

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Night Shift, 7 PM - 7:30 AM, Every Other Weekend Required

Guaranteed Hours: 34.50 per week

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of postpartum and antepartum experience. Candidates should also have L&D experience, new baby nursery experience, and experience with magnesium sulfate.

License: NYS RN License

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)

Must-Have: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. EPIC experience is highly preferred.

Job Description:

- Deliver patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship-Centered Care, applying the nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and approved organizational nursing standards.
- Assess and evaluate patient care needs, applying critical thinking skills in patient care management.
- Integrate relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care.
- Prioritize all aspects of patient care, including teaching, rounding, coaching, planning after hospital care, and delegating to others as appropriate.
- Educate patients and caregivers about their plan of care, transition of care, promotion of health, and prevention of disease.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, family, and all members of the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team.
- Manage assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing and allocate material resources effectively.

Patient Experience:

- Model the tenets of Relationship-Centered Care through actions such as Admission Welcome, Bedside Shift Report, and Purposeful Hourly Rounding.
- Consider patient's values, preferences, cultural diversity, expressed needs, and knowledge in all aspects of care.
- Establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with patients and family.
- Use evidence-based practices to increase understanding of patients' perceptions of care.
- Initiate service recovery for patients and family members with concerns, escalating when needed.
- Demonstrate caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening.

Quality and Safety:

- Practice safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement.
- Demonstrate clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in the patient population served.
- Implement process improvement strategies based on institutional, evidence-based procedures.
- Engage in formal and informal peer and institutional review processes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects.
- Contribute to quality and safety practices and required compliance measures.
- Escalate potential safety hazards following institutional protocol.
- Utilize institutional information technology to support quality and performance improvement initiatives.

Operations:

- Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
- Coordinate with nursing leadership to ensure appropriate utilization of supplies and sufficient inventory for patient care.
- Demonstrate patient-focused and cost-effective approaches to patient care in terms of equipment, staff, supplies, and resources.
- Document accurately and thoroughly in compliance with hospital, regulatory, and legal requirements.
- Facilitate patient throughput on shift basis.

- Advance clinical competence in nursing practice.
