Competitive Grant and Sponsorship Coordinator

Qualifications: One to three years of related experience with Federal and/or State Grants with grant writing, administration, and management. A demonstration of increasing responsibility and experience with grant writing, research, and strong knowledge of grant processes.
Job Summary: The role of the Competitive Grant and Sponsorship Coordinator will plan, direct, and administer a number of the grants at Grand Forks Public Schools (GFPS). This position is responsible for pre-award grant writing, coordination of grant applications for the District alongside administration and business office personnel, as well as post-award support for staff in charge of grant-funded projects and grants compliance for GFPS. In addition, this position is responsible for implementing fund development plans, targeting financial goals to support the fiscal year operating budget with a special emphasis on growing major grants and cultivating foundation support. This position works collaboratively with the district, school administration, business office, and the Grand Forks Foundation for Education & Alumni Network to determine and develop fundable opportunities from innovative ideas and areas that support GFPS's mission and vision.
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Work closely and collaboratively across district departments and staff to gain understanding of strategic initiatives, programs, and goals and identified challenges where external funding opportunities may exist.
- Oversee funding and compliance of many federal, state, and other grants (excluding federal formula grants such as: Title I, Title II, Title III, Title IV, 21st Century, IDEA B, Indian Education)
- Develop and maintain sponsorship base across the community of grand forks and the surrounding region aligned with district sponsorship policy and strategy.
- Collaborate to develop a long-term sponsorship strategy to support district educational goals.
- Share grants and sponsorship information throughout the district.
- Support in-service programs and other staff development opportunities for grant staff responding to changing regulations, systems, student or staff needs generated by a variety of causes including administrator requests.
- Coordinate with District leadership to determine the allocations of grant and sponsorship funds.
- Communicate goals, objectives, and applications of federal and state grant programs as well as sponsorships to the entire school community, including teachers, administrators, parents, and students.
- Serve as a member of system-wide curriculum groups or teams to ensure consistency and understanding of goals related to granting and sponsorship opportunities.
- Work with the Curriculum, Instruction, and Technology to monitor student success statistics to inform grant and sponsorship strategy.
- Research and recommend funding opportunities from a broad range of sources linking their compatibility with District needs.
- Responsible for writing grant and sponsorship proposals, completing application materials; ensuring timely submission of information and coordinate follow up.
- Responsible to stay up to date on new and proposed grant regulations, changes, processes and laws to ensure compliance with processes, policies and federal/state laws and regulations.
- Maintain community relationships to develop sponsorship opportunities.
- Maintain sound practices to manage and direct the grant administration functions of the District to improve operational efficiencies. Coordinate grant and sponsorship funds so that money is spent effectively and programs are administered efficiently and legally.
- Communicate, collaborate, and cooperate with colleagues, federal and state agencies, and public organizations.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties; Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others.
Terms of Employment: Twelve (12) months, full-time Monday through Friday with occasional evening hours.
